Historic–Burlington County:
Mill Race Village
Mill Race Village is in Mount Holly’s most Historic neighborhood.
The Mill Race Village serves many purposes related to cultural, artistic
and historic preservation and enhancement.
Historic Prison Museum, Mt. Holly
The Burlington County Prison Museum was completed in 1811. The interior
of vaulted ceilings of poured concrete and brick and stone construction
made the building virtually fireproof. In fact, it was so well constructed
that it remained in constant use until 1965.
City of Burlington Historic
District
As the first recorded European settlement in New Jersey, the City of Burlington
has played host to many beginnings, origins and “firsts”.
Many of them have left visible reminders, buldings or artifacts which
help us travel back in time, and relive for a moment the glories of the
past.
Smithville Mansion
Smithville grew from a typical, small mill operation on the Rancocas Creek
to a major industrial plant employing hundreds of workers from the 1860’s
to the 1920’s. Smithville offers a broad range of recreational opportunities

Whitesbog Village
Whitesbog Village in Brendan T. Byrne State Forest, Pemberton Township,
is open to the public from dawn to dusk daily. Guided tours are available
upon request.
Bordentown Historic District
This area was originally settled in 1682 by Thomas Farnsworth. Joseph Borden,
for whom the town is named, arrived here in 1717. With its many famous
residents, and the location of many historic events from the Revolutionary
War, the area boasts a rich history.
Paulsdale
Paulsdale is the birthplace and home of Alice Paul. She dedicated her life
to the single cause of securing equal rights for all women and courageously
led the final campaign for women's right to vote.

Batsto Village
Historic Batsto Village, a nationally recognized historic site, is located
in Wharton State Forest in Southern New Jersey. The Village has changed
and survived during several different periods of American history. Batsto
is the site of a former bog iron and glassmaking industrial center (1766
- 1867). Currently, it reflects the agricultural and commercial enterprises
that existed at the site in the late 19th century.
Pemberton Station Museum
Built in 1892, the North Pemberton Railroad Station was in active use until
1969 when the last direct rail service between Pemberton and Camden ended.
Restoration was completed in March, 1999.

Brendan T. Byrne State Forest
Formerly known as Lebanon State Forest, visitors are greeted by the fresh
scent of pines. Today's forested acres are a strong contrast to the barren,
cleared land that existed in the 1800s. Hikers can follow the sandy trails
and roads that crisscross the forest.
Wharton State Forest
Throughout Wharton are rivers and streams for canoeing, hiking trails (including
a major section of the Batona Trail), 500 miles of unpaved roads for
mountain biking and horseback riding and numerous lakes, ponds and fields
ideal for wildlife observation. Wharton State Forest also includes the
site of Batsto Village, a former bog iron and glassmaking industrial
center from 1766 to 1867.

Rancocas Nature Center
Nestled amid the soaring height and majestic girth of ancient trees, a
mid-nineteenth century farmhouse is the vibrant heart of an old-fashioned
nature center. The Center contains nature displays, live reptiles, a
classroom, a nature store, and offices. The Center serves as a focal
point for environmental education programs as well as society activities
and field trips.
Air Victory Museum, Lumberton
The Air Victory Museum is home to a number of historic Aircraft, Engines,
Uniforms, Vehicles and other memorabilia from the first powered flight
on December 17, 1903 to today. There is a wide range of artifacts that
help tell the story of aviation in the past, the present and for the
future.
